Panther is a bistrot located on the ground floor of NYX hotel, a luxurious establishment in the heart of Athens.
Panther's target audience are modern cosmopolitan people, both Greek and foreigners, who like enjoying their brunch or meal in a place with high aesthetics.
SCOPE OF WORK
The owners of Panther approached us to design the visual identity of the space, spanning from the logo to various applications. Since construction was already underway, we had a clear idea of what the interior would look like in advance.
LOGOTYPE
The logotype had to be sophisticated and distinct in order to represent the space's atmosphere and design. We used the elegant Argesta Hairline font which ticks all the boxes. We removed the vowels from the word, noticing that it can still be readable while acquiring a more modern and dynamic character. Also, the cuts and the extension in the letters P and R allude to the shape of the panther's eyes.
APPLICATIONS
The panther is a variant of the leopard and the jaguar that, due to the excessive amounts of melanin in its skin, has a black colour. Despite this fact, the characteristic spots of these felines are often barely visible. We could even suggest that they “hide” under the surface, keeping their true nature and instincts hidden from view.
Hence the main idea behind the design of the applications revolves around the phrase "Show your true colours". We invite people to let their true selves and colours come to the surface and enter the world of Panther.
To better convey the concept, we turned things upside down. We brought the spots to the surface, giving the feeling of revealing one's true self. We used copper to reference the colours of the bistrot but also to create an unpredictable image, as this colour combination is not found in the world of felines.
We also felt necessary to design a symbol that would complement the logo, while also being able to stand alone and maintain brand recognition.
